Cleaning Kits
The Mosin Nagant Cleaning Kit
It
is not recommended to use the cleaning kit or the cleaning rod from the
rifle to clean your Mosin rifle. A good commercial cleaning rod and kit
should be used and cleaned from the breach of the rifle. This is for
informational purposes only.
The
Mosin Nagant cleaning kit consists of Pouch, Oil/Solvent Can, Muzzle
Protector, Jag, 2 part handle assembly, and Tool (Screwdriver) The
Finnish kit may contain other items such as a brush.
The
muzzle protector comes in a variety of shapes and sizes. Basically they
do the same thing.
The
tool is used for multiple uses. 1) Setting the firing pin stick out.
(covered in the cleaning area) 2) Tightening the Jag onto the cleaning
rod (covered here) 3) Help in removal of a bayonet (not covered)
Mosin
Nagant Muzzel Protector choices There are two "basic" lengths of muzzle
protectors. Long and short. The short one is for the carbines as
pictured above. The short one can be used on the M91/30 also, but the
long one it too long for the carbine.
