  Nathaniel Munro (1752-1838) served, 1778, as a private in Capt.William Throop's company, Col. John Cook's regiment, Rhode Islandmilitia. Book by Joan S. Guilford. Nathaniel applied for a Revolutionarypension (and at one point served on a privateer ship!): "NATHANIEL MONROE alias MAXFIELD, b. 22 November 1752; d. 4 December1838, at Bristol, ae. 87; m. 1 November 1774 at Bristol, MARTHATAYLOR, b. ca. 1757 and d. 12 July 1816 at Bristol, ae. 59. He was aRevolutionary War pensioner in his death record. He served fromTaunton 8 Dec. to 30 Dec. 1776 and several other times. He applied forhis pension 8 Dec. 1832 at Bristol, giving his birth date and statingthat he was born in and always resided at Bristol. However, he alsostated that his wife induced he to remove to Taunton for greatersafety during the war. He also served on the privateer "Lady ofWashington" in the West Indies. His son Allen was appointedadministrator of his estate 7 Jan. 1839. Surviving children receivedfinal payment 6 Mar. 1841 for benefits to 4 Dec. 1838."
