William Horrocks was christened 22 December 1639
in Deane, the son of William Horrocks and Katherine Hunt. He
married 1) Ellen Garner 5 February 1666 in Deane, and 2) Miss
Lethwait 4 February 1667 in Deane (her first name is missing in
the parish register).
The only Lethwait girl born in the right time period in Deane
was Alice Laithwaite, christened 8 June 1644, the daughter of
John and Margret Laithwaite. This is our Miss Lethwait, aged 23
years at her marriage. Alice was mentioned in the will of her
father John Lethwait in 1669: "I give &
bequeath unto Alice Horrakes my daughter
wife of William Horrakes of Rumbworth the
cowe that is at William Horrokes house aforesaid". Rumbworth is Rumworth, a hamlet in the parish of
Deane.
William was a churchwarden in the parish of Deane
in 1668. He died and was buried 20 September 1720 in Deane,
leaving a will.
William and Alice had the following children:

William
Horrocks was born in about 1594 of Deane, the son of William
Horrocks. He married Katherine Hunt 7 February 1619 in Deane.
William
appeared in a recognizance roll in 1640: "Rumworth
& Harwood - William Horrocks, husbandman, to keep the to
Ellis Hardier, milner".
William
of Rumworth was buried 23 December 1672 in Deane.
William left a will written 30 November 1671 and probated 5
February 1672:

In the name of God, amen, I William Horrock of
Romwoth in the parrish of Dayne and Countie of
Lancaster, yeoman, beinge verie waike of bodie but perfect of
memorie presed bee to God and verie myndfull to settle my
estate doe make this my last will and testimente in manner and
forme following, ffirst my will and mynd is that my deits and
funeral expences shall bee paid and discharged out of my whole
estate and them I give to Jane Greenehaugh daughter of John
Horrocks the some of five shillings and then for the rest of
my etate I give one third part to my sonn William Horrocks
and I give the other twoe parts to my daughter Margrett
Warringe and further I nominate and appoynte my sonn
William Horrocks and my sonn in lawe John Waringe to
bee my true and lawfull exuctowr to execute this my last will
and testimente as I doe putt my whole trust and confidence in
them. In witness hearof I have putt my hand and seale this
thertithe day of November and in the yeare of our Lord God
1671.

Roger Horrocks was born in about 1550 of Rumworth in the parish
of Deane, son of William and Margreat Horrocks. He married
Margret.
Roger was a churchwarden in the parish of Deane in 1613.
Roger left a will
written 15 September 1621, and proven in February 1622.
In the name of God Amen, the fifteen day of September I Roger Horrox of Rumworth within the parishe of Deane being sicke in bodie but of good and perfect memorie praised be God doe make this my last will and testament in maner and forme following. First and above all other things I doe bequeath my sole into the hands of Almightie God trusting assuredly to be saved by the death and merites of Crist my Saviour and my bodie to be buried att my parishe church when & where it shall please God to appoint: Then it is my will and mynd yt my goodes being devyded into three equall partes and part to my selfe and second part to my wife and a third and last part to be devyded equally amongst my children vid: William John Thomas Alis Ezabell and Margrett now wife of John Houghe for the good and benefit of the children of Margret namely Elizabeth Hough & Margret Houghe. Also it is my mynd and will yt the reversion of my part besides my debtes & funeral expences discharged I give to my wife Margret if shee doe survive & outlive me but if it please God yt my wife departe this lyfe before mee then my will and mynd is yt my goodes bene devyded into two equall partes one to my selfe and the second to be devyded equally amongst the forenamed children. Also it is my will and mynd yt besides my debtes and funeral expences discharged att the reversion of my part of goodes to bee devyded equally amongst thafore named children except my sonne William. Also it is my will and mynd yt if my wife doe survive and outlive me yt shee shall have the whole estate and interest of all my house and ground for the further benefit of my yonger children. Lastly I do constitute ordaine & make Margret my wife & Oliver Penleburie the elder of Rumworth my true & faithfull executors to performe & accomplish this my last will and testament according to yt trust I repose in them. An inventory was
created for Roger in September 1622 and appraised by "these
honest men vid. Richard Robinson Richard Lieghe Robert
Robinson of Rumworth husbandmen Edmond Wood of Turton
husbandman & Richard Edge of Hulton husbandman prised the
thirtieth day of September 1622". Like his father before
him, his farm animals were carefully listed: "one cow and a
bull calfe", one heifer, "one ould cow", one red
cow, "one steeres", "two oxen stockes", "two
cow stockes", five calves, "three hoeffer", "gesse",
"pullin", and two swine. Crops were corn, barley, wheat,
rye and hay. In the house were five spinning wheels, "cheares
& stooles", and "quishenes". An interesting
item listed was five shillings worth of "suett". The
total inventory was valued at just over £114.
Roger and Margret had
the following children:

Bolton; had children Elizabeth (1617) and Margret (1620);
buried 21 December 1639 in Deane.

William Horrocks was
born in about 1525 of Rumworth in the parish of Deane. He
married Margreat.
William left a will in 1584.

written 6 November 1584: "In the name of God Amen in the yeare of our lord
God 1584 the sixt daye of November I Willim Horrockes
thelder of Rumwourth sick in bodie but not without
sound mynd & perfect memorie thankes bee given to God,
feringe death by comse nature & paynefull dysethse do
ordayne this my last will & testament in manner &
fforme as foloweth,
He left
bequests to his wife and children: "I will that my goodes bee devyded in
to iij equall partes, one part of the same my self the second
my wyff to have, the third to bee devyded equally emonnge my
children. I gyve and bequeath to Rodger Horrockes my son
as my part all my harness & ffurnyture for watt all yokes,
plawes one payere of plaw irnes... I gyve and bequeath to John
& Susan Myln, my daughter Ales children iiijd. The
reversion of my part of goodes last over & besides my
funeral my debtes and legasies payd, I gyve yt to bee dealt
equally emonges ffoure of my youngest children. I gyve
and bequeath to Margreat my wyff & Rodger my son
the interest of my house & tenement. And the indenture
& lease of the same with all comodyties & profettes
thereunto belonging. Item I make and appoint Margreat my wyff
and Rodger my son my true & ffaythfull executors to
execute fulfill & performe this my last wyll &
testament as I trust they will doe & the overseers of this
my last will I appoint Willim Crompton & Franncys Walkeden
to see that this my last will bee accomplished."

An inventory was
created for William 12 December 1584. The inventory included a
long list of his farm animals, including two oxen, two steers,
one "red kowe", two "great black kowe", two "lesse
black kyne", one "lyttell kowe", one "weale
heffer", one "fatt kowe", two "heffers"
three calves, one "old mare", one black mare, one "yonge
colt" three "sheepe", three swine, and "pullen".
Crops included "corne" and "hey". Items in the
house were pots and pans, pewter, "bassins", "wodden
cups" "spinning wheles" "wolle and yerne",
two fliches of bacon, butter and "chease", and salt. The
inventory was appraised by John Cropton, Wyllm Carrestange,
Wyllim Croptonn, and Wyllm Horrocks, and valued at over
£87.
William and Margreat
had the following children:
*1. Rodger, married Margret; died about 1622 in
Deane.
2. Ales, married Mr. Myln; had children John and Susan.
