Rees ap Rhydderch was born in about 1400, the
son of Rhydderch and Maud Clement verch William Clement, Lord of
Caron. He married Eve verch Griffith Maurice ap Howel.
Rees and Eve had the following children:

Rhydderch was born in about 1375, the son of Ievan Lloyd . He
married Maud Clement, the daughter of Lord William Clement. They
are mentioned in a description of Glyn Aeron:
"'Glyn Aeron –
Though now an insignificant farm-house, was formerly the
residence of people of consequence in this county. Jevan ab
Grufydd was the first of Glyn Aeron. His son Jevan Lloyd
succeeded to it after his death, and bequeathed it to his son
Rhydderch, the poet, who married Maud, daughter of Sir William
Clement, Lord of Caron." (The History and Antiquities of

"“Rhydderch ap Ieuan Llwyd. The son of Ieuan Llwyd of Glyn
Aeron and his wife Angharad, and a noteworthy literary patron,
he held local government offices in Ceredigion during the last
two decades of the fourteenth century. He owned Llyfr Gwyn
Rhydderch (The White Book of Rhydderch), an anthology of
medieval Welsh prose that included many of the tales later
