of Robert Butler and Anne Shaw.

Richard died and was buried 21 August 1682 as "
Mr.
Richard Dodwell of Eton".
Richard was deceased by 1684, when their son William was
apprenticed as a plumber in London. He was apprenticed to
William Butler, possibly a relative of Jane.
Apprenticeship papers for William Dodwell "sonne of Richard
Dodwell late of Eaton in the County of Berkshire yeoman
decd"
When Jane's son Thomas died in Oxford in
1710, he named his brother Richard as his executor. Richard,
an attorney, renouced the position in favor of his mother
Jane Dodwell.
Administration for Thomas Dodwell, 1710: "The
condition of this obligation is such, that whereas Thomas
Dodwell of the city of Osford gent
deceased did in his life time being of perfect mind memory
& understanding made his last will & testament
within & in the same made
Mr Richard Dodwell his brother his executor which said Mr
Richard Dodwell hath renounced the execution of they said
will.
Wherefore the administration of all and singular the goods,
chattles, and credits of the said Tho Dodwell with his said
will thereto annexed
by the authority of the official abovenamed is committed and
granted unto the above-bounden Jane Dodwell mother of the
said Thomas"

Jane died and was buried as a widow at the age of 94 on 27
August 1719 in Appleton.
Richard and Jane had the following children:
*1. Richard, born in about 1661 of Appleton; married Ann
Dodwell in 1686; buried 20 December 1722 in Appleton.
2. Robert, christened 10 September 1663 in Appleton, "son
of Richard Dodwell".
3. Jane, christened 18 March 1665 in Appleton, "daughter
of Richard Dodwell of Eaton".
4. William, christened 4 February 1668 in Appleton; in
1684 William Dodwell was apprenticed in London: "William
Dodwell sonne of Richard Dodwell late of Eaton in the County
of Berks yeoman decd apprentice to William Butler citizen and
plumber 30 June 1684", (London Freedom of the City
Admission Paper)
5. James, christened 9 October 1670 in Appleton, "son
of Mr. Richard Dodwell of Eaton".
6. Anne, christened 10 May 1674 in Appleton, "daughter
of Mr. Richard Dodwell".
7. Thomas, christened 10 November 1676 in Appleton.
8. Thomas, christened 12 July 1677 in Appleton; ; buried
2 April 1710 in Appleton as "Mr. Thomas Dodwell"; will 22
March 1709: "In the name of God Amen I Thomas Dodwell
of Oxford being weake in body but of sound mind &
understanding doe make this my will & doe hereby give unto
my brother Richard Dodwell of Oxford all my goods and chattels
whatsoever in trust that he paye my debts & funerall
expenses & afterwards doe also give the residue to my
mother who I give the same unto and I make my sayd brother
Richard sole executor of this my will. In witness whereof I
the sd Thomas Dodwell have hereunto set my hand & seale
the 22 day of March Anno Dm 1709". Mr Richard Dodwell
renounced his executor position in favor of their mother Jane
Dodwell, widow, of the city of Oxford. The will was also signed
by John Dodwell.
