FAMILY
GROUP RECORD OF
JOHN MOSS AND
CHARITY HARDY
John Moss was
christened 17 June 1667 in East Markham, Nottinghamshire, the
son of Jane Moss. (His christening record was extracted as John,
the illegitimate son of James Moss, however a careful
examination of the record shows that he was the son of Jane
Moss. This makes more sense as the mother is usually mentioned
in the christening record of an illegitimate child, and not the
father.)
John married Charity Hardy 14 August 1692 in East Markham. His
occupation was roper (ropemaker). Charity was most likely the
daughter of Richard and Mary Hardy of the nearby parish of
Gamston.
John Moss was a churchwarden in East Markham in 1708.
Charity died and was buried 18 May 1726 in East Markham.
